Perhaps one of the best-known and best-loved Hyundai models, the Elantra has a storied past and has come a long way across generations of models to become the stylish, in-demand sedan it is today. Since its debut in the 1990's, this model's original positioning as a no-nonsense economy has turned into a reputation for affordable comfort and technology. At Mike Miller Hyundai, we've enjoyed watching the Hyundai Elantra evolve over the years, and based on our sales numbers, local drivers have, too.
The Hyundai Elantra was launched in 1992. Refreshed for 1993, it came back with new features like fog lamps, ABS and seven-spoke alloy wheels. During its first few generations, the Hyundai Elantra didn't have a lot of extras on board: it was a no-frills sedan for people who wanted a vehicle at a good value. In 2001 air conditioning was added as standard equipment on US models, as well as power locks and accessories, front and front-side airbags, and power steering. This indicated the beginning of a trend toward more comforts and amenities in subsequent models.
2003 signaled a mid-cycle refresh for the Hyundai Elantra, and saw the addition of many new features, particularly design updates for the exterior. The next major redesign happened in 2007, though the model initially debuted in 2006 at the New York Auto Show.
The Hyundai Elantra we all know and love today has a distinctive look and an impressive array of safety, comfort, and technology features on board. The 2016 Elantra has a notoriously sculpted, fluid exterior. Its profile is aerodynamic but sophisticated enough that it's at home in the city or the suburbs. Its roomy interior offers 95.6 cubic feet of passenger volume, and amenities like premium cloth seating, an adjustable driver's seat, optional heated front seats, and adjustable head restraints keep driver and passengers comfortable on drives both long and short. It's easy to enjoy your favorite tunes from your iPhone or iPod via the USB and auxiliary audio jacks, or from AM/FM radio, CD or MP3 playback.
